"Climate Change and Plant's Adaptation" is one of the important subject which we studied in 1st semester of M.Phil. Sir was so strict regarding to study and they have the thoughts about us that we didn't study on regular basis.
That's why he daily assigned us some kind of assignments. But mostly they preferred the practical work. They take different kind of practical work from us:
- We grow plants hydroponically.
- Fill up Performa from different people that what they thought about climate change
- Visiting the nurseries for buying the plants.
Then in the mid of March 2022, we studied the topic "Accessing Vulnerability To Climate Change".
Climate Change is one of the most challenging threat for mankind and mankind respond to climate change in two ways:
- Through mitigation
- And through adaptation
Sir said; Human mostly focus on mitigation, but it's not always possible to mitigate. So the adaptation is the most appropriate and important way to respond the climate change & where Sir ended the topic and gave us the assignment to establish nursery and nursery area.
Actually in our campus there are the lack of shady places so in summer there are issue for the student where they sit.
They said that temperature is getting increasing day by day and all because of the climate change + the anthropogenic activities are responsible for the climate change. Because it's only human who's were cutting trees for their needs. So now the main way to control the climate change is that;
- We grow plants.
- We need to build the nurseries and peaceful park.
- And raise the awareness of importance of plants.
Sir said if you will do this task well then other department will also get inspiration from you and will do the take care of the plants.
Sir gave us the one whole week for this assignment and said you feel free to take help from the students of other department.
We whole class with the bad mood made two groups and left everything on tomorrow. Because working under the sunshine was not easy plus we don't have any idea how we made the nursery beautiful.
Anyhow in the next morning we gave entry into the nursery area which is situated on the outermost side of the university.
Nursery is in the mid while both left and right side area of the nursery was empty plus the full of dirt. The left side of the nursery was our group area to clean and decorate. That day we only visited the university area and left all work for the next week.
From the next week (On Wednesday) we started the work in nursery area.
- First we collected the donations from the students of other classes or departments.
- Then we look what we need to do in that place.
- The large big stone got our attention, if we decorated it then it will make the nursery area attractive.
We did the deeply cleaning of that part of nursery collected lots of stones from the different parts of university and then arranged it around that big stone.
- Then we brought the two color paints and ornamental plants.
- Some girls painted the flowers pots.
- While others did the white-washing of the stones and then decorating it with paints.
That's all we did to make the nursery area attractive. Other group also did their job well and good.
When we completed our job then different department students came there and start making their selfies there and saying that you did the great job. Sir also got happy from our work and arranged the Inauguration ceremony of the nursery.
Our efforts were not getting wasted, all teachers + the chief guest also liked our efforts.
Closing Thoughts:
Later on in summer we enjoyed our these efforts a lot because this of nursery and it became our favourite place for spending three hours before classes.
