Hello everyone,
I have got to use this time to share some informations with my friends using a Yoruba proverb.
The proverb goes thus.......... “Àgbà ti ò ke’hùn s’ὸrὸ, à ke’tan sáré”
The above proverb can be interpreted in many ways but i would love to interpret it like this:-
Interpretation:- "A parent who does not shout on-top of his/her voice will one day run like a cripple man"
I really thank God as a Yoruba boy for the wisdom he has granted our fore-father for them to be able give good solutions to some great problems by just using the words!
back to the proverb ..... The proverb above is a very good saying one can use to correct or advice elderly persons mostly parents. I said mostly parents because in the proverb interpretation i did and the quote in the picture above we could agree that the proverb is talking about the relationship between a child and his/her parents. It talks about the pattern and strategy a parent is using to bring up a child, but the initial stand of the proverb is a warning to the parents, that a parent who refuse to lead his/her child in the right part will definitely regret at the end.
I would love to add to the value of my explanation with use of a story of a Mother who really loves her son beyond correction.
Title:- LOVE BEYOND THE RODS By Nucleus.
There live a very wealthy woman with just one child whose father is late. This woman finds it very painful when she lost her 38years old husband to a mental illness and promised herself never to get married again but live to take care of the only son she has with all she have. Well this woman trying to be a good mother provided her son with all he needed and even provides him with his wants. After some years this little boy had grown a bit and decided to go spend some time with his grand parents in the village( his father's parents), well his mother agreed to take him there. They got to the village after a five hours journey from the city . Immediately they got there the boy never knew he was to prostrate to greet his granny so he attempt to shake hands with them they refused his greetings and the mother said to the grand parents "please don't mind him, he is just a city boy" instead of her to correct him and let the boy know what he does not know, she didn't . After some hours they prepare going back to the city and the grand father said to the mother of the boy “Àgbà ti ò ke’hùn s’ὸrὸ, à ke’tan sáré”
and she just laughed as if it was a joke and the boy also laughed thinking grandpa had cracked a joke. They got back to the city and continue with their lifestyle while the boy grew up to be a man with the doctrine his mother has used to bring him up.
After some years the boy who is now a man got an admission into the university and joined some bad gang in school while he was been reported by the school authority to his mother often time, But his mother would rather defend him in anyway because she is rich. This young man became very notorious in school to the extent that the lecturers are now scared of him because he had turn a higher assassin, armed robber, rapist, even as the head of the hottest cult group in the school compound, this young man continue like this until he himself decided to drop out from school and he when back home to stay with his mother while still practicing his bad acts he learnt in school on the street of his mother's house. On one faithful day this young man went to a club at night and eventually got into a fight with someone whom he killed accidentally and he ran away. The next day, The club manager went searching for the young man's house and he eventually met with his mother and narrated all the story to her, So she confirmed if it was true from her son and he said yes, hearing the yes she was so perplexed and had to strike a deal with the club manager in other for him not to report to the police. They had a deal and she gave the manager 70% of all she has in her bank account still yet she wasn't complaining about her son's character instead she would beg him not to do it again until a day the young man's grandparents came visiting them in the city. While the woman was having a discussion with her in-laws some official personnel came in and greeted them in the house, the official personnel introduced themselves as bankers in a bank where her son had gotten a loan with all the three houses the woman has as a collateral, she couldn't believe it until she was showed the documents of the three houses and she began to cry, when her father in-law saw that she was crying he told her it's not yet time to cry woman remember i told you the other day “Àgbà ti ò ke’hùn s’ὸrὸ, à ke’tan sáré”
, she began to cry harder and her mother in-law also say " for every value placed on a child is determined by his/her parents" why did you choose to spare the rod? THE END .
