So it's been a few years since I touched any animation software, so I decided now was the time to add some motion to my loco. I spent a week working on a short animation for my story the Technologies of God, episode 13. Getting back in the swing of things was difficult because I’m a bit rusty with animation design and development. I used to create basic Flash animations but Flash is no longer around(!), so I tried Krita. It's wonderful, but it takes time to get used to it. It's not as animation-centered as Flash was, so elements that would have taken me a few minutes to animate in Flash took an eternity in Krita. I felt like a caveman pecking at a cave wall with my stick. It's just a matter of familiarity with the software. Once I got into it, the work-flow improved.
My Surface pen no longer wants to pair with my bluetooth device, so I purchased a new one that is actually better than my old pen. It's interesting using a Surface to create an animation because you can draw directly on the screen. It's a more hands-on approach than a drawing tablet, but it has a few drawbacks. Some things are just better done with keyboard and mouse, especially when you're a lefty. Again, it's likely just a matter of practice practice practice. I titled the animation "I love paper planes" because this phrase appears in the episode for which I developed the animation and its an important theme in the story.
Minting animations in the NFT Showroom is fairly straightforward. I had to create an animated thumbnail, and then upload the larger-sized file. Check it out in my gallery.
The second piece of art I minted today was for a story I wrote last year called Arcas' Bones (some material is slightly nsfw so proceed with caution). I called the piece 'Restless in the Clouds.' Yea, I know it's cheesy, but trust me, that's not the worst of it. Here's the link to my Restless in the Clouds token.
