Ontario Residents: Volunteers Needed In Search Of Kaden
Kaden Young went missing in the Grand River just before 1 a.m. on Feb. 21 as the van his mother was driving got caught in floodwaters over the road near their home in Waldemar, west of Orangeville, Ontario.
His mother tried to get her three year old son out of the van, but he was ripped from her arms by the force of the water.
I went out Saturday March 10, and joined approximately 300 people, but by the end of the day our efforts turned up empty. Volunteers set up food and drink stations along several Grand River bridges, and shuttle buses were used to get people around.
Head of Community Search Richard Croft says they are in desperate need of more volunteers to continue the search, and says that with it being March Break he's hoping more people will turn out.
Volunteers are urged to meet at the main base, 9 Mill Street in Amaranth, ON, L9W 3Z3 - before setting out.
Croft says volunteers need to be ready for some very slippery and muddy conditions and should come with boots that have grip, a hockey stick or small rake, ice cleats, and a small backpack to carry things like extra socks.
