Fix Patents, Not Prices, to Solve America’s Prescription Problem

A lack of actual competition and government protection of its most guilty parties has led the pharmaceutical market in the United States to be over-patented and over-priced.

They key part of this article is the fact that there were over a thousand patents issued for only a handful of drugs that allowed monopolization or cartelization of those drugs for decades. Putting price caps won't solve the problem. The underlying issue of patents and government supported monopolies needs to be addressed. By putting price caps and not solving the actual problem, prices will be just placed at the highest level government allows and other drug prices will go up. Competition is what is needed, not government intervention. I'm not anti patent but there has to be a limit. A reasonable one.
