Dear reader
as winter is approaching and with it the end of the fly-fishing season at had the chance to visit a truly fly-fishing paradise once again. You can find this paradise in upper Austria. A small town called Gmunden is where the Traun Lake donate the Traun River with its clear alpine water.
From here until the marvelous Traun falls, you can get a fishing license (not cheap but worth it) to fish in a unique and beautiful surrounding.

The Traun is having nice clear water all year around and is habitat for many species.
The water this year was very shallow so we could walk very far out. If the water is higher, it is hard to reach many good spots.
This time we hired a local guide to give us some advise. This was very helpful and interesting, we learned a lot and it paid off later.
Besides the amazing nature, there is always some changes here. Every time we come here, we find different conditions.
This time the conditions have been just right and we have been able to catch some nice fish. I caught this nice rainbow trout.
It was quite a fight to lad this beauty. Fortunately the hook was removed already once i had her in the fishing net. After a quick picture, she was unharmed released to her home.
We also discovered some new spots where we have not fished before.
Some spots are truly magical.
We have caught a couple smaller graylings at this spot.
with higher water, this part is very hard to reach and fish.
We also tried other spot as well and enjoyed the nature and the meditative act of throwing fishing line over and over again.
The smell and the sound of nature here is incomparable.
You can almost feel like a part of the river.
