A Shirt on Sunday - Steven Wilson 2018

The #ShirtOnSunday tag was started by @hockney who has a massive collection to work through. I have a few more to work through yet. It can be any story related to a t-shirt, but I expect a lot will be music-related.

This one is unusual in that it is a shirt I did not buy and I did not even go to the see the tour it relates to, but it still means something to me. Early last year I discovered @slobberchops starting out on Steem. He was struggling to get going, but I encouraged him to keep going. We met in person at the first @steemcampuk event in Birmingham in April 2018. We had already discovered our shared love of the music of Steven Wilson. Mr Chops had been to see his latest tour and bought me a shirt that he presented to me.

I had seen Mr Wilson twice on his previous tour (for Hand. Cannot. Erase.), but had not bought a shirt. The first occasion was at Cambridge Corn Exchange on the first night of the tour when we got front row seats with top guitarist Guthrie Govan right above us.

We saw him again at the Albert Hall towards the end of the tour. My other half did not really know his music, but after being dragged along to Cambridge she was keen to see him again. That time I bought a signed LP.

The fact is that I do not buy too many band shirts these days. I have enough shirts really and it has to be something special for me to fork out around £30. Often I just take a couple of photos to preserve the memory.

Steven is playing at the London O2 Arena next September, but I am not sure if I will go to that. Tickets are fairly expensive and it can be a pain to get home. I do wonder what sort of show he will put on. He generally has some cool video projections. I see the premium package tickets in the first ten rows have already sold out.

At the Albert Hall show I went to this was a highlight. Ninet Tayeb sang this on the album, but was not at the Cambridge gig.

Rock on!
