Japanese traditional song "Sakura" performed by 2nd graders in Pakistan

Sakura by Class 2R.jpg

I teach music in a school in Pakistan, and I used the Japanese traditional song “Sakura” for the performance of 2nd graders in our concert.

If you are interested in learning this song, or using it for your own teaching etc, here's a video that shows the lyrics and the choreography.

And here’s an audio file of the karaoke. The music was produced in Apple Logic, using sounds of taiko drums, koto (Japanese harp), Indonesian gongs, Tibetan bowl, Chinese erhu, and so on. There’s no “bass” part in this arrangement, like you would have in normal Western music. That’s because the taiko drums were covering the frequency range that would normally be covered by the bass.

I hope this post was useful. Thanks for reading.
