So I expanded the idea from yesterday
quite a bit, and although there are still spots that need work, I think the general map of the song has come together nicely. As you can in the screenshot above, a lot of the tracks from yesterday are moved around, some now grouped together, in addition to there being a whole break section that didn't exist yesterday. Track 9 is the drums, which I chopped up a bit more, as I felt like some parts the kick sound just disappeared, so I made sure to fill those in, in addition to adjusting the levels. I think it still may be slightly too upfront, but that'll come over the next few days as I edit more. In the break, Track 12 uses the drum clip, except it was pitched down an octave and slowed, to give us that pattern. The progression over the break is essentially the same as the rest of the song, except it repeats every 8 bars, instead of the 10 used in the 'A part' (aka the rest of the song, lol). Tracks 11 and 13 are also new drum parts, with 11 adding some Nerve hi-hats, which are mostly in the background, just helping to keep the driving beat going, and Track 13 some cymbal hits, mostly a china. Track 14 is an audio clip of that china hit, pitched down, and also reversed at the end of the break to create a swell.
Track 20, Expanded Melody/Harmonies
Listen to Spastix 3 here...
Tracks 21, 23, 24 and 25 are a bunch of random audio
clips, used for transitions, and one just randomly in the middle of the break to add some glitchy sounds. Some of the instruments now grouped together (Tracks 16, 17 and 18) now have a gate added, which is sidechained to the drums in the break. This creates that choppy rhythm that happens over the latter half of the break. The chords in Tracks 4 and 5 were also chopped up a bit to fit with that pattern, at least at the beginning of each 8 bar repetition. Track 20 was a new ROLI synth, which adds a little melody line over some of the A parts. The last time it plays, it uses a much more filled in, harmonized line, pictured between the two paragraphs above. This needs some tweaking as I think some parts of it need a little more of a clear direction, so I'll edit that and see if I like it more. I think in order to make some of the A parts heavier/more intense, there needs to be another chordal instrument, playing the same general chords as Group 3, but in more of the mid-range. I also had the actual tempo of the song change before and after the break, extending those transitions just a bit. I think once the transitions are fixed up, these will be a lot more effective.
Hope you enjoy!
