A few days ago when I was listening to a few songs from The Woggles, YouTube made me a playlist of songs I might like. Some were songs I have on my own playlists but many were new to me. Like this one from a trio from Prague called The Maggie's Marshmallows!
We have a female singer who also plays bass, a male drummer, and a male lead guitarist. They all look cool in the video, dressed in black. The singer has a Wednesday Addams vibe going in her black dress with white trim and stockings but no shoes. The dudes are in Beatle boots, black slacks and the lead guitar man has a polkadot shirt on while the drummer has a black T.
The song from 2014 is primative and very lo-fi. The drums are standard rock riffs but the lead guitar is fuzzy buzzy and the vocals are quite overdriven. Raw, Garage Punk, driven by a cool guitar riff and those needle pining vocals.
Check it out!
Let's get a taste of their Live Show. This is from 2013 in some small club or event called Muddy River Festival. They play Chubby Bunny which is a fast R&B song like X might have done in LA in the 80s, followed by Monkey Man which is proto-typical Garage Rock. Both very cool. Rock on!
For more of The Maggie's Marshmallows, here is their first album on Bandcamp. Cool songs with the producer sitting in on organ.
