Today I listened to another HUGE compilation of Garage Rock songs from the YouTube channel called XXxxZeinxxXX and like yesterday's post on one of their comps I'll mention some of the songs I liked the best. This one runs for over 2 hours and has 52 songs in it!
The video/song collection starts off with The Beatin' Path - The Original Nothing People which I've heard before. It features organ and fuzz guitar with a nice midtempo beat and snarky vocals.
Maltese - You Better Stop, starts with a fuzzy guitar note and goes into a stomping slightly delic rocker.
Interns - Hard To Get, smashing drums with an organ and guitar slightly like Gloria. The lead guitar is mega overdriven, very cool.
Jerry & The Remnants - I've Wasted My Time, organ and guitar, not bad but a bit disorganized.
Ragged Edges - Why don't you, a very groovy Garage Rocker! Strong lead guitar over a great rhythm section. The bridge is weak but otherwise I can dig this!
The Centuries I Love You No More, this is party music, easy to dance to, guitar based, pop vocalist.
American Zoo - Magdalena, I like this one! Organ and guitar, nice chord progression. Good break with organ and dreamy steamy guitar.
Dart - Genevieve, its almost reggae, and it kind of works but would prefer a standard Garage Rock rhythm section. The pace is frantic and the guitar break is nice but short.
Love Inc. - She Don't Care About Me, notable because of wah wah petal guitar with decent organ, not bad at all.
Hot Coffee - Some Day You Will Die, depressing lyrics but nice fast tempo guitar and organ. Aaaaaahh lyrical harmonies.
Our Generation - Baby Boy, starts with pounding drums, then organ and guitar chords add. Decent short guitar break. Not bad!
Ray Hildebrand - Why Did He Go Away, jangly uptempo Garage Folk Rock, I like it!
Richie Bruce - Plan My Life, catchy low fi grungy Garage Rock with decent vocals.
The Others- I love you so, standard mid tempo beat with a nice guitar break.
The Hallmarks - I know Why, and I know this one! A fave of mine for sure. Its snotty guitar based dance music, get up!
The Hallmarks - Soul Shakin' Psychedelic Sally, basically the same as I Know Why but with added echo and reverb for psychedelic impact. Let's dance with Sally!
The Corners Four - Love, a pounding organ and guitar ripper that you can surely bop along to.
The Stairways - Don't You Care, kind of unique, starts with bass then guitar and is someone singing do do do do do do or a that a guitar? I like it! Screamy ending.
Keep on rockin'! See you next time.
