Back in March, Diplo was on stage in Sydney fielding questions about his life, career, getting diarrhoea on the job, and just we would see any new music from his much-loved project with fellow producer Skrillex, Jack Ü.
“Hopefully,” the hitmaker answered. “Right now I’m just doing a lot of new Major Lazer stuff and Diplo stuff. The thing with Jack Ü is complicated, because of Atlantic. Skrillex is signed to that label and it’s difficult to do anything with that. I hate major labels, so I don’t really want to do anything with major labels. So it’s hard.”
So it seemed as if a new album would be a way off, but in a new interview with Argentinian La Nacion Diplo has confirmed that new Jack Ü music is definitely in the pipeline.
“Skrillex is working on a new album,” he said. “I think that after that and the new album that we are preparing with Major Lazer, we will make music together again.”
Their 2015 debut Skrillex and Diplo Present Jack Ü spawned a number of mega-successful singles, including the Justin Bieber collaboration ‘Where Are Ü Now’ and the Kiesza team up ‘Take Ü There’. The album ended up taking home two Grammy Awards for Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronic Album.
