Perfect Reviews Of Perfect Movies: Wakefield (2016) - The Best Movie I Have Seen In A Long Time

I am still mesmerized by the unique beauty of Wakefield. And I think this feeling will stay with me forever. To be honest, I did not expect much from this movie as the ratings are pretty low (average, one might say) and the plot is pretentious. However, everything from Bryan Cranston acting to the soundtrack to visuals to directing impressed me. It is one of those movies that get stuck deep in your heart. Well, at least for me. Of course, I must agree that I am living in some point similar state of mind as the main character of the movie. I'll start traveling alone around China in a month and that will be an exciting journey to understand myself better. And that is exactly what Howard Wakefield did - he chose solitary to understand himself.

Also, you get to see Jennifer Garner naked in this movie. Isn't that enough?

The Plot

Howard Wakefield (Bryan Cranston) is a successful man who lives in the suburb with his lovely wife and two daughters. From outside, his life looks perfect. However, he is not happy at all and that is why Bryan unwillingly disappears and starts stalking his family from an attic. His wife reports Bryan missing and cannot understand what is happening while Bryan is watching her and analyzing the situation. That is a bizarre thing to do and any normal person would not even consider such possibility, but Bryan takes it even further - he starts scavenging the food in the streets and decides to live in the attic forever. Well, at least for a couple of months. And every single day he understands what his life was all about and how the world works. Sadly, he also understands that it will be impossible for him to become a part of that world again.

My thoughts

  1. After all the time we spend with our beloved ones, do we even consider the possibility that they might be better off without us?

  2. While analyzing others, you can understand what you are all about.

  3. What if outcasts of the society are actually the ones who understand the world the best?

  4. People live by so many rules that they forget to enjoy life and look at it as it is.

  5. People end up with each other by accident and they spend their lives together by accident as well. And no one is brave enough to end that accident.

  6. There is nothing more important than knowing yourself and understanding your actions.

  7. Social status is an illusionary instrument created to control the masses. In reality, a homeless man can be as good and happy as a CEO of the biggest freaking corporation in the world.
