Avengers: Endgame Breaks Box Office Records

No spoilers here. Just the numbers. Patience is a virtue. One that pays off at the box office. Marvel has spent the last 11 years building their cinematic universe and building the infinity saga. Now with the finale and 22 movie in the saga, people are all in.

If you tried buying tickets to this movie in advance, you knew that this movie was going to be big. Everyone knew it was going to be big. No knew just how big it will be. Sure the fear of spoilers drove everyone to the theaters as soon as possible, but no expected this. No one expected the movie to open with 1.2 billion dollars. The biggest opening for a movie after.

The movie opened with a record breaking 357 million dollars in the U.S. it is even more shocking considering people said that there aren't enough theaters in the U.S. in order for Endgame to break 300 million dollars in one weekend. It also made 330 million dollars in China alone. It broke the record for the biggest opening day ever in the U.S. with 157 million dollars (including Thursday previews). It is also the fastest movie to reach one billion dollars. To close it up it also had the highest per theater average in the U.S. ever. Numbers are not adjusted for inflation obviously.

It literally opened as the 18 most successful movie of all time.

I hope that it will at last pass Avatar and become new most successful movie of all time. Even with a second weekend big drop it is still possible. Especially since so many people couldn't get tickets to go see it during the previous weekend.

What do you think? Does Avengers: Endgame has what it takes to be the first movie to make 3 billion dollars?
