I know I skipped this one because, well, I thought it sounded dumb as hell. The cover features a teen girl with tears in her eyes as she's screams, her face awash in the blue light cast from her monitor. I made jokes about it with my boyfriend.
"Oh look at me. I'm freaking out because Kaylyn doesn't want to be my friend because I called Makenzee a whore face! Waaah!"
So, finally, worn down by boredom and my desire to devour another horror movie I rented "Unfriended"' and figured it would suck, but I actually ended up liking it! I love it when I find an overlooked horror selection. It's a genre so packed with various types of chills and thrills, it can be tough to separate the good from the boring or torture porn types. I can do with a bit of torture ( take the excellent House of 1000 Corpses for example), but it has to have more than just carnage to engage me.
"Unfriended" is the story of a group of teens who spend an evening on Skype together. When a mysterious hacker starts interfering with their conversation, things start to get ugly, and secrets come out. I found this one enjoyable and unexpected. I'm always a fan of using creativity to make the mundane interesting. I hope you enjoy it. Thanks for reading, and sleep tight, my pretties!
