Venom - Once again, it is proven that movie is very subjective, amidst influx of negative reviews (especially from US), I find Venom is very watchable and entertaining.
Bearing in mind that this is an anti-hero (not super-hero movie), you would not expect the similar glam and posh setting like Iron Man, Thor etc.. instead, it focuses more on the struggle of Eddie Brock with his life (before and after becoming Venom). Tom Hardy is great at playing Venom and many a time hilarious too.
I think the main issue with the movie is its pacing, after the promising initial spaceship crash landing scene, the pacing went a few notch down in showcasing the relationship between Eddie and Anne (Michelle Williams) as well as the not so menacing villain, Drake/Riot (Riz Ahmed). Luckily, it pick up quite well after that, all the way to the end. The other issue is its rating, it is playing too safe to release Venom at PG13, if it is at M18 or R21 rating (like Deadpool), it would be much better (at least can see some real blood and dismemberments)
My rating : 3.5 (out of 5 stars)
There are 2 after credits scene and both are worth waiting for (second one is not directly related but very unique and interesting).
