Andrew Prekker's design for Minnesota's new state flag was selected from a pool of over 2100 public submissions.
He was thrilled.
He received much praise.
And he was attacked.
The new flag has been a touchstone in the ongoing culture war in Minnesota. So I spoke to the designer himself to hear his thoughts—on this as well as what inspired his design and what it was like having it chosen.
