I'm covering the issue of the new Minnesota state flag. Like the wolf issue I covered last winter, I see the matter over the flag as representing (and symbolizing) the political/cultural division we're experiencing in our state.

In the meantime, here's the post that started it all: I asked my Facebook friends what they thought of the new flag. Including the quote at the top, there were many who felt strongly against it. Yet there were also many who really like it.

So goes a state split in two—which is not what you hope for when unveiling a new symbol under which to unify the people.
