When somebody says the words ‘School Days,’ what does it remind us of? The noise in the classroom, the constant chattering of classmates when the teacher is teaching, running around in the school premises and the hunger pangs with which we would open our tiffin boxes packed by our mothers with much love and care. Those were our days that we will reminisce for the rest of our lives.
Now let us imagine that we are in a similar scenario where everything is just the same as above, except that we do not have tiffin boxes. You are very tired and all the running around, has exhausted you. The bell rings and you get back to your classroom, the teacher enters and starts teaching her subject. Do you think you would be able to concentrate and focus on what is being taught? No! Because all you would be thinking about is, food!
Back to reality…
Unlike us, who had the privilege of satiating hunger by opening carefully packed lunch boxes, there are millions of children who experience hunger pangs every single day but make do with it, by controlling their hunger and ultimately stop coming to school one day. Because to quieten the hunger, they need food; and the only way is to earn for it!
Heeding to such grim situations, many people step up to form a community or an NGO and work towards various causes of children like hunger, health-aid, education, etc. The role of an NGO is to uplift, to make children’s lives better and to make the world a happy place for all to live in.
If you feel moved by this story, you have ignited the fire of humanity in yourself that you will be more than willing to sponsor a child’s school lunch. Imagine what you could do for those children! You could make a world of a difference in their lives.
Be the reason for change
Did you ever think that you can possibly be a reason for bringing several positive changes in the lives of children just by providing school meals? Your support can help children in need by:
- Improving their nutrition levels
- Increasing the rate of school enrolment since a school lunch can act as a catalyst bringing back children to school every day
- Increasing their attention span and focus better in classrooms
- Ensuring proper cognitive and physical development with healthy and nutritious lunch
- Helping reduction in school drop-out rate
