Veteran Telugu actress Annapurna's daughter Kirthi committed suicide on Saturday, July 28, at her residence in Srinagar colony in Hyderabad. She was found hanging from the ceiling fan. She was 23.
Her husband Venkatakrishna, who had slept in the other room after coming from Bengaluru to Hyderabad at around 2 am, found her hanging from the fan in their bedroom when he woke up next morning. He immediately informed actress Annapurna, who was residing at a nearby Godavari block, about the incident post which the latter informed the police about her daughter's suicide.
Kirthi had married Venkatakrishna, who works as a software engineer in Bengaluru, three years ago. The reason for her suicide is yet to be known but as per the police statements, she committed suicide because of her daughter's health issues.
Kirthi's family members told a TV channel that her young daughter was having issues with speaking and her disability had been the cause of her depression. Annapurna had reportedly counselled Kirthi several times telling her that her daughter would be able to speak as she grows up, as per a report in Indiaglitz.
The Banjara Hills police are currently investigating the matter and have kept the body at Osmania hospital for post-mortem to determine the cause of death.
