Friday. #MarketFriday again, initiated by @dswigle, meaning Denise. By chance (happy chance) and fortunately, she lets me say it is my friend too! Every Friday I ask myself what I will post today, I don't want to repeat myself again and again. I was at the market and nothing, there is still much to be done before the renovation is ready. This is how it looks like now and in a few days we expect the winter to hit harder, with storms, snow and cold. Nobody will definitely work on this market until spring. That will release me from this subject and I will have to come back to ... memories!
As it was last summer on the Greek island of Thassos, not a market but countless places to buy something, a place of perdition (for my wife) ...
Hunting started, eyes on showcases and stalls like on the gas cylinder!
Here I have to explain, many of you probably do not understand this expression: eyes on the gas cylinder! Well, in the last communist era in Romania (1947-1989) we was so poor that the main fortune was represented by the gas cylinder. Thus, the gas cylinder was the most stolen object. Everyone was attentive to the gas cylinder, the eyes was only on the gas cylinder. The problem was not that the gas cylinder was expensive, the big problem was you had no way to buy another ... and without the gas cylinder you could not cook! From here the expression used even today: the eyes on the gas cylinder!
But to return to our market ... attention!, she found something without which we can not live anymore(not me)!
...and yet we continue to live! We mix jewelers, watches, spices and the famous olive oil of Thassos. Everything must be seen (and possibly bought ...)
Fortunately, there is also mercy for insignificant men's needs ...
But quickly, there's so much to see, like this and this ...and this, a jewelry store, very chic, though you would not say looking from outside!
In the little shop we find everything, plenty of jewelry to please the wife. The patron of the store, very friendly, awaits us next year (with more money with us!)
There are a lot of shops to visit, lots of showcases to admire, but I can not, I get tired. I look with admiration and envy at the locals, are not stressed, do not look for anything ... just sit in the middle of the street with a beer looking at a match on the terrace. What a nice life!
Fortunately, we went over something very strange, unseen by us until then, and then my wife decided that I deserve a gift!
My gift!!! It was good ... and for the first time in my life!
Oh God, Thank you! After that I felt exactly like this and I came to the conclusion that Life is beautiful!
Disclaimer: All that I have written here is true, I love my wife and if there are any critical accents, let you know that those words were made with love.
Now, back with my feet on the ground, at home in the middle of winter, please let me show you what I cooked for this beautiful day on Friday, 01/19/2018! My son Alexander and his girlfriend, Oana, come back from the beautiful Bansko resort in Bulgaria! Always fooled by hunger after 6-7 hours driving the car.
I'll prepare something easy to make, the roast pork in the oven and beef, also in the oven, here I cheated a little, I've already got it ready from the butcher. Pork roast meat I put with spices, oil, wine and garlic to soften. I put the meat in the tray and then in the oven.
After about an hour in small heat, I turned the meat cuts on the other side to brown.
It's been in the oven for about half an hour, and ... the steak is ready. When kids arrive, we'll make a salad and Supper's ready!
That reminds me of a wonderful song from Genesis (with young Peter Gabriel), if you know it or if you don't, you have to listen to it, it's a masterpiece!
That's all, a beautiful day on Friday. Can you think here we are in the middle of winter?
Well, I wrote this to you, to the beauty of life, to the joy that we can share facts and experiences. Thinking @dswigle, which we have to thank for this challenge! Hey Denise, I drank two big coffees as I composed this post, you know why I'm telling you this.
Bye!
