See that garish green colour of this alter in Russian Orthodox Church of Holy Spirit in Vilnius, capital of Lithuania?

Well, the story goes that it's a total horror for the eyes of any art historian or art critic.

According to the tradition of Vilnius baroque architecture, the alter was supposed to be (and for a long time was) white or salmon colour, but... ...one day some time in the 1990s the head of Russion Orthodox church in Lithuania decided to paint it the bright green you see in this photo... ...the story goes that he decided he didn't like either white or salmon colours anymore... ... so there you go, today the only Russian Orthodox Church in the world built according to Catholic church architectural tradition, bosts the brightest green alter ever.

Visit Vilnius, enjoy your life!
