Everyone in your life is plugged into virtual reality, and the activities going on in the world would make even Sodom and Gomorrah blush. From deviant fantasies to extreme violence to pure hedonism, humanity has become a revolting cesspool of sin. Luckily, you have come up with a solution. After several years of development, you have created a series of virtual gods based on Greek mythology who can be hacked into the virtual reality system to establish morality once more using their tremendous powers. With your Mount Olympus script loaded and ready, you press the launch button. No one knows it, but this was your second time going through with this plan. The first time was a few months ago, and it did not work. It turned out that god, not being a program, could not be hacked into virtual reality, providing a loophole that rendered your plan ineffectual. But you are patient, and this is your day. You see the world in your VR headset as the gods you created slowly come to life, and everyone in the world who had a headset on blinks out of existence.
The gods slowly settle into their territory, but the peace is not going to last long. The person who controls the gods controls the world, which quickly sparks a war of the gods as everyone tries to kill their rivals in an attempt to gain the ultimate power. What you created is a world so horrific that you are beginning to lose faith that your plan will ever come to fruition. The gods have become divided and will wage war on each other until only one remains. In a last-ditch attempt to save the world, you hack into Mount Olympus yourself. If you die, you take the entire world down with you.
The fighting is getting worse and worse. People are dying almost constantly, and entire cities are being destroyed. To make matters worse, the gods are getting more and more out of control, and their powers are making the world even more twisted. The only upside is that people are realizing the evil in this world and are looking down upon the gods and their fighting. For those who are not so wise, they will kill the gods, effectively killing themselves in the process. They were not wise enough to see the evil in this world because they were too busy messing around in it.
You set up a makeshift command center on the top floor of a skyscraper to protect yourself from any violence that is directed at you. As you are eating some food you found in the building, you receive word that another god has just died. You are minding your own business, so it wasn't you who killed him. There are only a handful of gods still alive, and every time one dies, your chances get better. Out of the corner of your eye, you catch a flash of movement out of your window. Suddenly, a tremendous blast from the gods' war hits the building, causing it to burst into flames. Thankfully, you have an emergency jetpack on yourself, so you can get out of the building before you are killed in the fire. The jetpack has one more use before it runs out of fuel, so you fly over to the nearest god who is still alive. You have no idea what his name is, but it is the last man standing, so you figure he is the biggest threat.
