Lioness "adopts" a small antelope

You may think that this lioness in the picture is just playing for a few moments before eating its prey.

But no, you're wrong! These wonderful pictures show the "queen" of the woods that cares for a small antelope, as if it were her child.

Although antelope is its natural prey, this sad lioness has "adopted" the calf after her cubs were killed by a rival lion.

Luanesha looks very close to the small antelope, that she lick it by cleaning it and protecting it from danger. She even defended the neighborhood from a lion bush that approached for food, at the Etosha National Park in Namibia.

Gordon Donovan, of New York, said: "It was a strange, but amazing sight. I was excited about the lions, and when she caught the little calf, I expected the killing.

"But it never happened and started cleaning the calf. This is the mysterious way of nature, without knowing what will happen next. She defended the litters adopted by the other lions. These are the moments I seek when I go to Africa, "he added.
