The cost of we

I made this poem thinking about how we in this world are always looking
for this perfect person to complete us.
but all the while we want to stay ourselves
something that is not possible because
if you connect with someone you melt a part of yourself with a part of them.

All I want to truly be
Is I want to be the me
The me that can be we
The me that can just truly see
see this life comes with a fee
With a fee of losing me

Analysing the poem

  • The first sentence shows the want for being something better.
  • The second sentence explains that we want to be something else while staying true to ourselves.
  • The third sentence is about wanting to be in a relationship.
  • The fourth is about not being blinded about the cost of a relationship.
  • The fifth says that this life we want to live comes with a cost.
  • And the last sentence shows that this cost will be losing a part of ourselves.
