Thoughts on Prayer, How and why we should pray.
"Prayer takes practice, so we should remind ourselves that those who are skillful with it, were not born that way"
Many of us who have no experience with Prayer and are worried about not knowing the "Right Words". Some of us who learned when we young the proper words to say, but weren't sure we believed those words any longer. Whatever our background, we all sometimes struggle to find the words to speak from the heart to our maker and believe we are being heard.
After years of not practicing Prayer we will attempt to start with a simple prayer asking for the power to make it through whatever is causing us suffering or those for the people we care about. We may ask for courage,or simply a prayer for knowledge of God's will for us and the necessary strength to follow through with it. If we find ourselves stumbling in prayer, we might seek out a pastor, or a another member of a religious affiliation. To ask them for guidance on how they learned to pray. No matter if we pray in times of need or in times of happiness. The important thing is the daily effort to continue to pray.
Our Prayer for sure will be shaped by our particular religious leanings and our own personal conception of our God. As our relationship with God develops, we become more comfortable with prayer. In time, prayer will become a source of comfort and strength, and we will seek God often and willingly.
