T-24 hours, First step on the Adoption Journey!!

About to start on a new Life adventure tomorrow.

Tomorrow night we drive down to Calgary, Alberta for a Weekend Seminar to be able to start the Adoption Process. Nature has not wanted to play ball thus far and we are tired of waiting. We looked into Fertility...it is about $10k a shot and is not a guarantee, success various from 40% - 60%. If we are going to fork over that kind of money I want a better ROI! If $10k means a 50%-ish chance at little feet, then we will spend $13,000 approx and know that we will have little feet.

$1200 for the seminar.

Almost 10% of the average total cost for Adoption in Alberta. After read about what other couples have paid in various forums regarding their adoption processes, we are very glad to be Canadian! Thanks to public healthcare we do not have to pay for any of the birth mothers medical expenses. Big thank you to my fellow Canadians for helping making this possible for us. We appreciate your Tax Dollars.

We decided to go with an Open Adoption through an Agency. An Open Adoption brings the birth parents who wish to place their baby or child for adoption with prospective parents. The birth parents select the family they wish to adopt their child, and after contact there is some form of ongoing contact between the birth family and adoptive family.

We are going this path because we want an infant. Not that we would not love an older child, but we both want as much of the full experience as we can. Open adoptions are mostly infants. The agency we are going with is Adoption OptionsAoption Options Logo.PNG

As well we have always had a very large family of choice. My friends kids call my parents Grandma and Grandpa(and get Birthday invites before ME). We also can understand the pain and sorrow of losing a child, we would never wish that on anyone. With an open adoption we will gain a whole new family.

I already know the first question I will ask the Birth Mother, "Do you want to join our family?"

I can't wait!!!
