The Rollover specials

It’s something about the last call of my shifts........

I can remember my first call for a rolled over vehicle like it was yesterday. Actually I got my very first one two days ago, and thanks to all the stories from the other drivers I was able to get it done. They all told me that the first thing I should do is put the car in park and put on the brakes. This keeps the car from rolling down the street once it’s on all four wheels. They learned the hard way and shared they mistakes so I wouldn’t do the same.

The second time around.........

Just Wednesday I was sent on a call for a rollover and I called out one of our other drivers to assist me because I wasn’t confident that I could handle it alone. When Kenny arrived he talked me through it and I got the job done.

My confidence was strong when I arrived to this call today. I immediately placed the vehicle in park before I even hooked it to flip over. I had to use my snatch block to get my cable to pull from a set angle due to the position of the car in the street. I noticed the people in the neighborhood looking on as I was working trying to figure out how I was going to pull it off. After I got it flipped over and loaded up I wrote the driver a tow receipt letting them know to contact the insurance company and let them know we had it.

The driver stated that another car swerved into his path and he hit a brick mailbox to avoid the head on collision. The driver of the other car kept going, which tends to happen a lot in my city.
