A photo of me and our husky from this past Sunday at a local Pagan Pride event
Thankfully he seems to be okay now, but it was one scary ride. My roommate was witness to it while I was playing D&D so I honestly had no idea it had happened until the aftermath when he came to me and said something. The dog's name is Fenris, and he also bit my roommate out of fear in the aftermath of the seizure which we do not blame him for.
He's never had a seizure before that we know of, which made this even more concerning. He may have had one before we adopted him, but the shelter did not report that he'd had one at any point during the time he was with them but we don't know anything about his life before they picked him up off the streets. He also may have had one during any of the number of times my roommate and I were out of the house at the same time for several hours such as errand running or while I am at various appointments and he is at work.
Thankfully he's not showing signs of any other diseases - he recognizes us, obeys commands, and is trying to hang out with my roommate in clear apologetic behavior. He's not drooling, showing signs of aversion to water or light, or shedding more than is normal for a husky.
I asked a friend of mine who is a vet assistant training to be a full vet because we honestly can't afford the few hundred, possibly thousand or more dollars it would take to get him checked out in the event nothing is wrong. Thankfully he says with current symptoms it's a) unlikely anything at the event on Sunday caused the issue as Fenris would have shown signs much sooner than tonight and b) probably just a one time event. Unless Fenris has another seizure or starts showing signs like the drooling or clearly not recognizing us he should be fine.
It's just concerning because....we honestly don't know what might have caused this. But hopefully he won't have another seizure and it will just be a one time event.
