If you're nearing your thirties make sure you adopt these ten habits to enjoy your life's journey better: Stop comparing yourself with others, have breakfast religiously, reduce your coffee cravings, exercise regularly, keep healthy family relationships, keep your house clean, spend your money wisely, follow basic skin care, know what's happening around you, and lastly, love yourself.
- Stop Comparing Yourself With Others
You should stop comparing your life with others’ because it is always easy to see that the grass is greener on the other side from where you are standing. You’ll probably feel that your friends are more successful, smarter, or even more attractive than you are, but that’s definitely not true.
Every individual works based on their own time zone; some may seem like they are ahead of you and some, behind you. However, what matters is how far you’ve come in life. So, give yourself a pat on the back and feel proud.
- Have Healthy Breakfast
We all know that skipping breakfast is not healthy, having burgers for breakfast isn’t healthy either. What you need to do is wake up in the morning and prepare a healthy breakfast for yourself.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. The food you eat in the morning is what fuels your body up for your morning work, both physically and mentally. So, prepare yourself a healthy breakfast cereal with some fresh fruit juice to go with it.
- Bring Down Your Coffee Cravings
Coffee has probably been your energy drink to wake you up in the morning and get you charged up for the day. However, when you are nearing your thirties, it’s probably a good time to cut down your coffee craving to probably just one cup a day.
As you age, you become more sensitive to the effects of caffeine. The stimulant effect of caffeine can cause jitters, anxiety, and even disturbed sleep. You don’t want any of those. Try to restrict yourself from having too much coffee. You don’t have to do this overnight, take the process gradually.
- Exercise Every Day
With a healthy breakfast, you also need to be physically active. You cannot eat healthily and wait for your body to work wonders for you. When you are nearing your thirties, you will observe how your body begins to gain weight faster than when you were in your twenties. This is because as we age our metabolism slows down and fat deposits increase.
If you don’t want to have those extra pounds on you, you have to exercise regularly. You can do a couple of stretches at home, head to the gym after work, or even go out for a morning walk.
- Tell Your Family You Care
There was a time when your parents answered all of your silly questions and took you by the hand to cross the road. Little did you know that their guidance was going to be with you for the rest of your life.
Now, you are a grown up and you have your own responsibilities, but it wouldn’t hurt to let them know that you care. Find time or make time every day to give your parents a ring to let them know that you are fine or spend your weekends with them
- Clean Your Own Mess
Maybe it was okay to be messy when you were a teenager because you know your mom would have cleaned up all the mess in your room. But, it’s not okay when you are thirty and you are living on your own.
It is not okay to leave your dishes piled up in the sink or leave your rooms full of your dirty laundry and leftover food. Messy surroundings can make you feel drained and can also draw your attention away from the things that you need to focus on.
Take responsibility for your own mess and keep your surroundings organized and clean.
- Spend Wisely
Gone are those days where you could spend recklessly not knowing how to survive your next day. You have to be able to control yourself from spending your earnings on an unnecessary purchase. When you grab a lipstick or mascara with no purpose at all apart from adding it to your makeup box, you know you are not spending your money wisely.
Now that you are independent, you need to pay your own bills, pay for your daily expenses like food and travel, and you need to have some savings. If you want to be able to manage all of these, you need to make sure you spend your money wisely.
- Don’t Let Your Skin Feel Old
It’s amazing what makeup can do to hide those wrinkles or under-eye dark circles. However, you must also know that it can harm your skin if you leave it on overnight and go to bed with it.
Sleeping in your makeup may cause spots on your skin and make it dry. It may also cause brittle eyelashes. Your skin is also exposed to free radicals in the environment that your makeup holds on to. This causes damage to collagen in your skin, resulting in fine lines. It can also clog your pores and cause acne.
So, every time you apply makeup, make sure it is removed before your bedtime. If you want to feel comfortable in your own skin, make it comfortable even on the outside.
- Know What’s Happening Around You
It’s important to keep yourself updated about what’s happening around you and the world. Make a habit of reading the newspapers. Now that technology offers you news at your fingertips, you can read the headlines when you are on your way to work.
This will keep you aware of what’s happening around you, and you’ll not have to be the one who doesn’t contribute to a conversation about elections or something as simple as the new movie release.
- Love Yourself
As you age, the changes you go through will be a lot easier if you love yourself. If you love the person you are, you’d feel more confident and happier as you grow.
The way you treat yourself will reflect how others treat you. So, if you don’t want others to treat you improperly, you need to start with yourself first. Believe in yourself and respect yourself and don’t let anyone treat you otherwise.
So, if you want to be thirty, flirty, and thriving, adopt these habits and enjoy life’s journey to the fullest!
