The power of a hug

Hugging is a wonderful way to give love, because it is a gesture that expresses many feelings and emotions in a single action, because with a hug we can say without words those phrases that are often difficult to express. For no one it is a secret that we currently live in a very fast-paced world, with many languages and where our society has been forgetting to interact with others, that great ability to give or receive a hug, because day by day we are becoming distant people, individualistic and we leave aside that physical contact with our peers, which fills our senses with life and reaffirms our confidence and love for ourselves. We have forgotten that the most widely used non-verbal language in the world is the embrace and all the benefits of this habit.

Hugs are always timely and necessary, depending on the context in which we find ourselves, whether we are sad, in love or celebrating an occasion, is the best therapy that helps us to release AND reduce stress, but above all helps us to have a more positive attitude to life, because from the moment we are born our mother receives us in this world for the first time with a huge hug, transmitting love, security and protection.

In recent years, studies have shown that embracing is often of vital importance to our lives, and the health benefits are truly indisputable, not only physical but also mental. Without a doubt, a hug improves mood, relieves physical and mental pain, increases our security and the feeling of loneliness, raises self-esteem, significantly reduces fears, lowers blood pressure, increases the immune system, allows more white blood cells to be produced that are resistant to viruses and bacteria, improves the health of the heart and our cardiovascular system in general, but above all slows down aging.

I do not know if it has ever happened to them that they have felt hugs that mark us and that we always remember and in moments of sadness we resort to that memory to feel better, which is why it is important that we encourage embracing, since it is possible to establish bonds that often last for life. Every year on January 21 we commemorate the International Hug Day, but this is only a commercial date, because to tell you the truth, we don't need this day to embrace our people.

"We need four hugs a day to survive,
eight hugs a day to keep us
and twelve hugs a day to grow up."
Virginia Satir .

Let's follow the advice of the psychotherapist Virginia Satir, let's hug our loved ones and those around us every day, it's so little time that we can invest but very profitable for our life and our health.
