Today is my Day-69 at Steemit. When I first exposed to this website, I was excited and I can't wait to experience how awesome being a writer on Steemit. After all, how many website allow you to earn a decent income through quality contents.
I understand that Steemit community doesn't promote plagiarism article, low-quality article or spamming because each of us got a limited upvotes, which is around 1 upvote every 2 hours. So, in order to get more upvotes, quality and interesting article is undeniable. I came across quite a numbers of articles about their journey in Steemit, how they reach 500 followers within a month, how they achieve a reputation of 60, how they become a dolphins in just few months time. This is really motivating. I like to see how they achieve their dream through Steemit because I want to achieve what they had achieved. I have a Steemit dream as well.
My Target
Last month, I set a target for myself which is to post daily or at least to comment 5 article and make connection with other Steemians. I guess this is they only way to get followers, to increase my reputation score and most importantly, to grow on Steemit community. I only managed to do so for one weeks or two though.
Biggest Challenge
The biggest challenge I faced is that I don't have much free time everyday after work. I'm a pharmacist-in training currently working in a tertiary hospital. This job requires a lot of commitment and responsibility. We are dealing with human's health and life after all. I need to complete one year training before I become a licensed pharmacist. There are a lot of requirements such as presentation, assessment, case report, clerkship, research, documentation and weekend shifts to be completed outside normal working hours. It usually occupied most of the time, if not all, of pharmacist-in-training. My colleagues even said they don't have time to look for and maintain relationship with their life partners.
Risk of getting my job contract discontinued
I would said that the peer pressure is intense whenever my colleagues get their task or assessment done with distinction and preceptors are all satisfied with her/his performance. Currently, provisionally registered pharmacists in Malaysia are using contract based, only those with top performance get to continue their contract after 2 years of contract. This basically means those who put less efforts or those with average performance cannot continue their service in government hospital after the 2-year-contract.
Discipline is the key
Regardless all these, I'm trying my best to comment, to post article and to make connections with Steemians. I can't stay active on Steemit everydays, but at least stay active weekly. I believe discipline is the key to grow in Steemit community. Growing slowly is better than none at all. Steemit dreams is my motivation to stay active despite the risk of getting discontinued after my 2-year-contract. I believe Steemit has unlimited potential being the greatest social network worldwide, just a matter of time.
Before I join steemit, I know nothing about cryptocurrency. I don't even have basic knowledge in technology and finances. As time passes by, I learnt about other crypto, I learnt about how Steem is different from others, I learnt about finances management and there are a lot more I am going to learn in coming years. Technology is a bit hard for me to pick up as there are quite a lot of jargon.
I know it is not going to be easy to handle both my job and Steemit, but I'm not going to stop my Steemit journey, how about you?
