Social Media Influencers

Social media influencers are individuals who have established a certain amount of credibility, which is apparent by their following on social media, usually due to a skill, talent or niche.

Social media sites typically do not create their own content, so when users visit social media sites, it is (more often than not) for user created content. The centralized services such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat all make money from placing advertisements in their apps and on their sites and are therefore profiting from user created content...

Users and content creators end up receiving little to none of those profits, though they are driving the traffic that drives the sites advertising revenues up. Users with significantly larger followings will often have companies reach out to them to advertise their products, but users with smaller followings aren't often so lucky and therefore don't directly benefit financially from their social media posts.

(Here is a nice article on Medium about becoming a social media influencer:

Steemit.com, on the other hand, came with the revolutionary idea of rewarding content creators (and curators) for their contributions using blockchain technology.

Here is a screenshot of some of the posts that are currently trending on Steemit.com:

As you can see, there is a lot of earning potential, and some users make over $100 per post. In order to see these types of rewards, it takes consistency, building a network, providing quality content and branding. So don't get discouraged if when you first start on the platform your posts are making a few cents, chances are that few cents is more than you would be making on another site. The key is leveraging your skills, talents and your knowledge, finding your niche and catering to your audience.

There are people who have multiple niches, but often they find that blogging about one thing gets them a greater response than another and turn more of their focus to that. So just be true to yourself and find what works for you because everyone has something of value to offer, even if it's something you're researching or learning about.

First you find your niche, then you push out consistent content (maybe make a logo and/or signature look for your posts) thus building your brand, and your network will build organically on Steemit, but ideally, you want to bring as many real world connections (and/or social media) and supporters to the platform as possible in order to increase your reach and more importantly, your rewards.

Your payouts are in Steem Power (STEEM) and Steem Dollars (SBD)
Here is a screenshot of the current price of STEEM via coinmarketcap:

and here is a screenshot of the value of SBD:

Once you get the STEEM or the SBD, here is a tutorial on how to convert the money to Ethereum and send it to Coinbase in order to be able to use the funds:

And Steemit doesn't seem to be going anywhere anytime soon, due to the network effect, they have grown tremendously in popularity. Here is a screenshot of their Alexa traffic rank:
