The divided Mind

Mastering a Yoga Posture is not different from mastering a martial art or anything else in life. There is something that you want to achieve but you don't know how, at least not yet. In my experience you need two mindsets.

You need the "I will do that" attitude and a "I am patient" attitude. Imagine a Samurai in ancient Japan. Those guys were master swordsman. There skills with the blade were unmatched and almost superhuman. But none of them picked up a sword and said "I am good to go, lets fight". They needed to learn the sword step by step. Repeating the same move thousands of times until it is mastered to perfection.

Nowadays we are all impatient and we want everything now and we are disappointed if we can't achieve our goal immediately. Most of the time we have the mindset that we want to achieve but we are lacking patience with ourselves.
We are just focusing on the thing we want to achieve, that we forget to recognize the achievements we have on the way to our goal.

So stay focused at your goal but also celebrate every step you take to get closer to your goal. And stay patient with yourself, you acquiring a new skill that comes with practice and experience.

Osu
(means as much as: the pursuit of patience.)
