The dreaming horse of the magic town

"One fine, hot sunny morning, a white horse decided to take a walk to the town. There, he met a brown horse which was a bit bigger than him.

'Hello, little horse, where are you from?' the big brown horse asked.

'I live in the meadow that is by the river.' he replied.

'Oh.. you poor, little horse. Your mane is not in a good shape, you need to take care of yourself.' the brown horse said to him.

'Yes, I know... I will,' and then the white horse continued. 'Do you live in the town?'

'No, I am just passing by. I just came from the river, where I went swimming.'

'Oh...' the white horse said. He didn't like to swim, he never tried it.

'Hello, little white horse. If you like, we can play together, I am quite good at this game.' said a horse who just came walking by.

'Oh... I don't know.' the white horse petted his long mane like if he didn't know what to say.

'It's ok. We don't have to play.' said the other horse.

'No, it is just that... I don't like games.'

'Oh, okay then.'

'But... we could take a walk to the river, it is very nice there.'

'Yeah, I like the river! I swim there almost every day!' the dark brown horse said.

'Really?' the white horse said.

'Yes... I can't breathe under the water, I can only swim above the surface.'

'How does it feel?'

'It makes me feel so free... so light! I just don't like when I first go in the water, it is rather cold, but after a while I warm up and can go on and on!'

'How long can you stay in the water?'

'Sometimes as long as a day!'

'Wow...'

'Hey, guys. Come on, let's go to the river, it is quite near.'

They made their way to the river and when they got there, they all looked at it.

'What a nice place!' the white horse said.

'Come on, let's go in!' the brown horse said, then he ran towards the water and started swimming.

'Hey, wait for me!' the other horse said, he was very fast and soon he was swimming too.

The white horse just stayed there, he didn't know what to do. He felt a bit sad for not being able to join them. But he decided to go back to the meadow and went on his way.

The white horse was quite sad. He thought that he was no good at playing. He felt tired and wanted to go to sleep very much. Then, he started walking back towards his meadow. Suddenly, he felt something wet on his back. At first he didn't know where it came from, but soon he felt it again. It was on his face too and he saw that it was a great big fish which was jumping into the air.

'Oh my! That's a big fish!' he said.

'I am a whale! I am a killer!' the fish said in a very loud voice.

'Oh my!' then the whale came a bit closer to him, which he didn't know what to do. Then, suddenly the whale jumped at him and took him into the water with him. He was in the water. The first thing he did was getting some air, but then he remembered that the big horse said that he couldn't swim under the water and he remembered the story about the fish. He couldn't swim under the water, but he could jump over it. He jumped and jumped and jumped, as much as he could. He didn't want to be taken by the killer whale. At that moment, the whale was trying to get him a bit deeper, but he couldn't. The whale got tired and went to the surface.

'I am a kind whale! I am not a killer!' he said.

'Oh, thank you for saving me!' the white horse said.

'Oh no, I just wanted to go for a swim, but you looked so scared.'

'No, I was, but I am ok now.'

'I hope you won't be scared again next time we meet.' the whale said, then he went back down to the bottom of the river.

The white horse couldn't see the whale any more, as it was too dark. He was hungry and thirsty. He was very tired and he kept walking back slowly towards his meadow. He thought of all the things that happened during the day. 'I never thought that my first day in the town would be so interesting and scary at the same time.' he said to himself. He walked back slowly till it was dark. He couldn't go home, so he decided to sleep under a big tree that was not very far away from the meadow. He was very tired and fell asleep as soon as his head touched the tree trunk. He slept there till the next morning and then he went home.

'I will never forget about the kind whale who saved me from the killer whale.' he said when he arrived back home.
