Today is Gaura Punima, the commemoration of the appearance in this world of the Supreme Lord in the guise of His pure devotee, for the express purpose to inaugurate the yuga-dharma, hari-nama, the congregational chanting of the Holy Names of God, as the means of yoga available to anyone who can hear and chant, even if only in their heart or mind.
The non-express purpose of this VERY special appearance of the Supreme in this world is to embody bhakti yoga, the pure love of KRSNA and Radha in their timeless pastimes in Vrindavana.
In New Vrindaban, WV, we celebrate the entire day, with special readings from sastra, ecstatic kirtans, special performances, culminating with a glorious feast of prasadam at moonrise, the remnants of the loving offerings from the devotees' kitchens, 108 preparations (at least). See newvrindaban.com.
We have a bhajan band making a special performance this afternoon for several hours, I will attempt to upload some videos (if this will work this time)
