Bollywood lyricist Javed Akhtar has finally decided enough is enough. He tweeted a powerful message against the sporadic lynching epidemic in India. He says, even in the days of America's Klu Klax Klan and slavery or the White supremacist rule in South Africa, no one had ever justified lynching with the same level of shameless audacity that is currently unfolding in today's India.
Another Bollywood personality, the articulate Director Sudhir Mishra, too, voiced his outrage and asked, "What do those who justify lynching say to their children?".
Indian society needs more heroes to combat the nation-wide lynching. Where are the most popular Bollywood hunks? They don't want to speak out against the criminals who have the backing of the present ruling party?
Besides the aforementioned personalities, there are some other celebrities such as the reality TV star Gauahar Khan, stand up comedian Vir Das, and South Indian actor Siddharth, who have taken to Twitter to voice out against the lynching.
The latest lynching has taken place in Rajasthan's Alwar district, where a 28-year-old man, Rakbar Khan, was lynched to death on the suspicion of cow smuggling.
