My Personal Experience The following is a story from my own personal experience which shows that often when I introduce myself just by mentioning my profession, it is still less effective and unclear. When introducing myself and only mentioning that my profession is a trainer (without further explanation), the following reactions are common: They said “Oohh… the rich trainer in the gyms, sir”. They think I'm a personal trainer at the gym (even though I'm not muscular at all) They said "Oohh.. Mr. motivator like Mario Teguh and TDW like that!" (which is also incorrect). If you also don't know, there are differences between motivators and trainers. Well, from that experience I learned that just mentioning your job title is not enough, especially if your job title is quite foreign to most people (eg Supervisor Procedure & Compliance or Mgr Asset & Operating Integrity). Therefore you need to provide further explanation so that the other person is not confused.
