Hello my fellow Steemians!
My name is Katje and yes my name has a “J” in it… and no it is not a misspelling. I will be writing reviews about products, places, and things to do! 😊 My mother chose the name when she was watching the Olympics prior to me being born. I come from a history of large families. My late grandmother on my dad’s side was one of fifteen children and my late grandmother on my mom’s side had ten children! So being one of four children seems so small. My sister, @bethanymhuh, my brother-in-law @fiddleback, and my husband, @wmetzger are on Steemit. I was referred by @customnature, who has an amazing blog. Please also be sure to check out a few of my friends on here too @airplanemode, @thewoolynettle, @jscottdavis28, @steemitshelby, @kenzehner, @ajmom2011, @robcoscia, @djbuxx, and @Kommienezuspadt.
I’m a transplant that currently resides in Dallas, TX. This city, and Texas in general, is absolutely enormous and growing rapidly every day. I will do my best to share pictures of the Lonestar state with y’all. Texas is home to huge cities and lots of activities to do that I am excited to post!
I was born and raised in northeastern Pennsylvania, which is also called “NEPA”, or some refer to it as the “570.” This is the area code and not far from where the hit show the Office was supposed to be from. Later on, wanting a change, I moved to beautiful sunny San Diego, CA and got married to my husband, @wmetzger, a musician and later attorney, when I was very young. After waitressing tables, pursuing modeling, and after getting various opportunities, I decided what I saw and the lifestyle wasn’t for me. However, I still love the business side of entertainment industry since that position suits my goals and personality much better.
As a first generation college student and veteran’s wife, I realized I wanted to learn business and needed to receive an education to be able to obtain opportunities. I was accepted to and had a choice between San Diego State University or the University of North Texas. Even thou tuition was extremely low at SDSU, the cost of living had increased tremendously in San Diego. It was sad to say goodbye to the beautiful palm trees and breathtaking sunsets. However, I knew that it was time to leave. That’s when I moved to Denton, TX to attend the University of North Texas to obtain my BBA and majored in accounting. And what a shock that was, especially the heat! Woah mama. I will be writing more about my college experiences later on. I have many topics to share and discuss with all of you lovely people! I would also enjoy hearing your experiences as well! I have always been more application and hands on with my skills and work.
After graduation, we moved to Dallas to find opportunity as an accountant and my husband law school at SMU. I also worked at a hotel later on and then in property management at a data center while pursuing my real estate license and my MBA online from Liberty University. Btw, although I went to Liberty, I am an open-minded Christian who respects all people and all walks of life.
I’ve been pursuing my CPA plus working hard on various side projects. Unfortunately, it has been a heck of a 2017 for me so far and I have experienced so many horrible things this year. Anyone else? I refuse to make 2017 negative and am taking it back by taking control of what I can it making it better! I am also pursuing coding courses as well as diving into learning about cryptocurrencies, investments, and ways to make your money work for you while you sleep. I find it absolutely amazing and thoroughly enjoy the craziness of cryptocurrencies although I still have a lot to learn. I am also planning on using my coding courses in order to be able to design a few app ideas that I have had but keep putting off. I believe everything in life happens for a reason but that it’s no excuse not to push and is not a pass to be lazy.
For fun I enjoy playing video games especially Call of Duty. I love watching shows such as the Office, Parks and Recreation, the OC, Million Dollar Listings, some Housewives, Fuller House, and many more on Netflix and Hulu occasionally, while I’m working around the house and on study breaks. I also absolutely LOVE HGTV and the Food Network! I also enjoy comedy because life is way too serious. I enjoy attending concerts meet and greets, taking day trips, architecture, real estate, shopping, manis/pedis, Marvel comics & movies, classic cars, big trucks, swimming, working out, playing tennis, shooting hoops, throwing a football, playing chess, baseball and hockey games, and am in the process of getting into yoga to destress.
My goal on Steemit is to post articles and discuss topics about events that we encounter in our daily lives. Topics that are practical and some that are just to escape the monotony of our daily life. They include but are not limited to the following: Fashion, hair, make-up, trends, travel, student loans, CPA exam, entrepreneurship, finance, cryptocurrencies, data centers, the tech industry, legal, food, recipes including gluten free, reviewing restaurants, health, weight gain/weight loss, the loss of a loved one, birth, death, social media, music, religion, some politics that interconnect with business as long as we don’t get nasty to each other, etc. Truly there will be something for everyone. I enjoy conversing, challenging, and learning with intellectual people as long as we are all respectful to one another. I care deeply about people close to me and am a very compassionate person.
I believe we all are ultimately on the same goal and mission in life and we can accomplish things together to not only benefit ourselves but society as a whole. We need to take care of each other and unite. I’m very blessed to be able to meet people who enable me to expand my thinking, knowledge, skills, and grow as a person. I thought years ago I would just get my bachelors and get a job. Wow was I wrong. You are always learning and should always be seeking knowledge daily. Never stop growing in your profession, your skills, your marriage (if applicable), your physical health and to those who have the privilege of being parents, as a mother/father, and as a better person overall. Knowing who you are as a person and your beliefs but being open-minded to be able to be empathetic to others and understanding of their situation or their way of thinking is key. In closing, love one another, support one another, and embrace one another. God is love, not hate. Please be sure to follow me and I will be sure to do the same back.
