The Intel i5 and i7 with AMD Vega graphics are already official: surpassing a GTX 1060

A few months ago there was a rumor that Intel was planning to launch processors with AMD graphics cards to fight against NVIDIA (the enemy of my enemy ...). Weeks later, Intel confirmed this alliance by creating a small chip, low power consumption, and with an amazing power that allows even playing on thin laptops. Now we know all the models that arrive and their characteristics.

Five new Intel processors with AMD graphics cards: lightweight and powerful gaming laptops
The models presented are the i7-8809G, i7-8709G, i7-8706G, i7-8705G and i5-8305G. All of them have a configuration of 4 cores and 8 threads. The most powerful of all, the i7-8809G, has a base frequency of 3.1 GHz and Boost up to 4.2 GHz.

These chips are quite peculiar, since they have two built-in graphic cards. The first is the Intel HD Graphics 630, which includes the 5 models presented and that will be used for low-power tasks and office automation. The second is a Radeon RX Vega M GH in the case of the i7-8809G and i7-8709G, and a Radeon RX Vega M GL in the case of the i7-8706G, i7-8705G and i5-8305G.

TLaptops and NUCs: main market for these chips
The sale of portable gaming has increased by 42% in the last 3 years. Thanks to these chips, you can play ultra-light laptops without problem, in addition to creating content. The graphics and the processor are communicated with each other by a PCIe 3.0 x8 line, and the chip has a thickness of only 1.7 mm. In addition to portable gaming, NUCs can be purchased to connect them to televisions and turn them into consoles like the one that Intel has presented today, thanks to its content size and great power. The most expensive NUC will cost 999 dollars (NUC8i7HVK), for the 799 of the most affordable model.

The i7-8809G, in addition to outperform the AMD Jaguar processors of the consoles, is on the verge of equaling a PS4 Pro, which has 4.2 TFLOPs. The performance of these chips, as we have seen in the data, exceeds that of an Intel i7-8550U with an NVIDIA GTX 1050 around 30 and 40%. With respect to a GTX 1060 Max-Q of 6 GB, the performance is up to 13% higher.
