ICN Hodler Report - Q3 2019

Q3 2019 Summary

I'm a bit late doing this report but better late than never. Q3 saw no real visible changes on ICNHodler.com right up until the last week or so when a completely redeveloped site was deployed. The style and navigation was kept largely intact but the homepage, coin pages and crypto fund pages all saw big changes. Behind the scenes, things are also much more efficient. The site is about 70% smaller in size and shedding that weight combined with updates to software means it's also much faster than before. The crypto market itself stalled and slowly began looking bearish again after a boomy Q2 but we're in it for the technology, right?

New Homepage

Regular visitors to the site will have noticed the updated homepage layout. It's now a 3 column layout with a single column dedicated to the top performing coins, a column dedicated to the top performing crypto funds and a final column dedicated to a twitter feed. The navigation has also been simplified and things like the ICN price have been removed (because it doesn't really exist any more).

New Fund Pages

Crypto Fund pages got a redesign and a handy indicator for fees which will tell you if fund fees are below or above average. Fund performance stats have also been assigned a rank so you can quickly see where the fund has ranked out of all public crypto funds for the same time period.

In the example below, you can see that BLX has an above average management fee of 3% but all other fees are below average. You can also see that over the last 24 hours, it ranks 29 out of 38 public crypto funds. Over 'all time', it ranks no.1 (because it was the first crypto fund created and created at a time when the crypto market was starting to boom).

New Slack & Subreddit

ICONOMI took the decision to nuke the last remains of their official community by closing down RocketChat in Q3. It wasn't entirely surprising given that they hinted earlier in the year they'd be moving to a more corporate / suit and tie approach to communication once they had official shareholders.

Upon learning of the demise of RocketChat, I set up a slack to try and house the now homeless ICONOMI community. Telegrams exist but I feel telegram doesn't lend itself well to larger groups. Discord works ok but I decided to stick with slack and go back to where it all started for a lot of the ICONOMI (and crypto) community.

Because the ICONOMI subreddit has also now effectively become an announcement channel, I set up an ICNHodler subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ICNHodler/. It's important there are ways for the community to communicate with each, not just in one way conversations with ICONOMI.

Q3 Traffic

Traffic was down slightly in Q3 but on a positive note, organic search traffic is growing and now accounts for 44% of all traffic.

845 users (-10.30%)
3,379 sessions (-25.39%)
30.30% returning visitors (+1.90%)
74.49% bounce rate (-2.70%)

Q4 Plan

We're almost a month in to Q4 and with the remaining two months I'll be out of action for at least 3 weeks for personal reasons. That leaves 5-ish weeks with Christmas / New Year in among them so realistically not much will get done beyond maintenance and further clean up work.

More SEO work is needed on the site and I also have to re-integrate charts to the new site. If I complete all of that in the time available, I'll consider it a job well done in Q4.
