Here’s a couple taken on Friday, Larry helping me play solitaire and…

the contractor got the siding up on the back wall. He still has the soffet, etc to do on the eaves and the trim to finish.

East Shed - morning glories1 crop Oct. 2023.jpg

On Saturday in the East Shed garden, there are a lot of morning glories. Bear in mind, I have not planted these in 20+ years. I usually pull them out as they appear, but I’ve not stayed on top of them this year.

On one side they are pink, the other blue.

New North - feverfew crop Oct. 2023.jpg

In the New North garden the feverfew is still flowering.

Swamp flower crop Oct. 2023.jpg

In the swamp the white flower I’ve never identified is flowering. The stems are at least 8’ high, towering over the jewelweed at 6’ - 7’ high.

Swamp flower, pink crop Oct. 2023.jpg

On the bank to the swamp there’s another one but this one is pink. The flowers rather resemble hydrangea, but I don’t think hydrangea is a wetlands plant. These have been down in the swamp for decades.

Oak leaves and acorns crop Oct. 2023.jpg

I had thought we’d not have many acorns from the signature oak tree this year as all other fruiting trees were hit hard by the late May frost. But it’s a bountiful crop and I MUST get the tarps on the Small garden soon!

Corn and Chicken Chowder crop Oct. 2023.jpg

On Saturday night I made Corn and Chicken Chowder and cornbread for supper. Saturday was a slow day. I got the trash only ready and took it to the dump around 8AM. When my brother got up we took the truck out for gas and to go to the bank. It was to be a rainy day and we got done before it started. I spent the day cleaning the kitchen and running dishes through the dishwasher. I’d not done that much during the week, and of course, no one else will.

Florence flea market crop Oct. 2023.jpg

Sunday was a lovely day and my friend picked me up to go to the Flea Market at 9:30AM. It was a small one but there was a lot of nice stuff. The 2 boats in the background were stunning and beautiful old wood boats.

The items under this tent were really nice. I picked up a couple crocheted doilies here. I got a lot of jars and canning lids at the vendor next to this. I’d not brought a lot of money, so I went to the bank a block away. The walk-up ATM was empty! So I scooted around on foot and hit the drive-up one. It still had money.

Florence flea market - the haul crop Oct. 2023.jpg

When I got back, I finished walking around and found a few small items. The little pitcher is identical to the one I got from my grandmother. That one had been broken and repaired several times. I had a vintage water bottle like the green one, but had broken it after decades of use. I was delighted to find another for $3. I’d also gotten half a dozen of the regular mouth pint jars that I am so low on.

The box holds 84 baby food jars and their lids. My dad had collected these jars and used them to hold his various small items in his workshop. I’m hoping to make a similar system in my workshop one day. I’ll have the jars for it.

Once I had these all put away, I watched videos all afternoon with Larry.

On Monday it’s to be part sunny and cooler. I have to do laundry and I should finish the &%$@ bills/budget. No helpers on Monday…
