Oohh man! It is my favorite time of year. Crisp cold air, wonderful food, quality time and celebrating Jesus. This is a little run down of how it went!
Oh that mistletoe
Christmas eve
Things are alot different than they used to be! Like I mentioned in past posts, it used to be very commercial. There was alot of scrambling around and making it rain on presents. It has really settled down on the homestead. The things we used to find important have faded, and the simple life is taking over.
We find these days that we enjoy a great meal, great company and very thoughtful gifts. (Apparently it is a game to make the Yeti teary eyed with sentiment...i lose ever time) The great meal this year was lasagna. Stacie D makes it vegan and delicious. She made a 'cheese' sauce that made the whole thing taste like Little Ceasars pizza. If you haven't had LC pizza...trust me...I ate too much.
After dinner
After dinner it was time to relax a bit and get ready for Christmas day. Stacie D jumped right in and started to make homemade cinnamon rolls. I am not talking about wimpy little light and airy...I am talking dense, moist, and you're going to need a fork. The whole process was filled with love, laughing and joking.
We were going to watch a great movie and enjoy more tradition, but the last few weeks have run us down. By 9:30 we were lights out.
Christmas Morning
After what seemed like time traveling, we bounced out of bed early. By bounced, I mean sortof crawled toward the wood stove.
Morning chores got done starting with a hot fire. I made a stought coffee and she warmed up the oven to get the cinnamon rolls warmed up.
We settled in with some coffee and our bibles to read through Luke 2, and take sometime to remember and be thankful. Without Jesus, Christmas isn't even a thing. It would be yule. Anyway, our reading and praying turned into more laughing and gift exchanging.
Finally, the cinnamon rolls were ready. She made a maple glaze with pecans for the top. Between that and the coffee I think I might have a little holiday buzz going!🙃
So for now
So for now I am laying here working my way through this blog. Thinking about how I may have over done it this morning, but can't wait for this evening.
We have an afternoon full of new movies and quality time followed by another amazing meal! God is good!
I am excited to share this with you, and like always I hope you enjoyed our perspective!
