I JUST ALMOST DIED ON THE HOMESTEAD---THE LAUNDRY'S GONNA HAVE TO WAIT😁

IT WAS THE UNIVERSE WORKING FOR ME, AS SCARY AS IT WAS!!!

If you look back a little way into my blog you'll see this post where I talk about starting to build a dam. I did start too...but I is realized a few days into working that there was a MASSIVE problem.

On the hillside beside the spring (where the dam is being built) there is(was) a huge dead tree. My fear was that I would get the dam completed and the tree would fall and destroy it!

This put a halt to my dam building and I needed to get a few things set up before I could it the tree down.(my nerves, mainly😂) This was going to be the weekend I did it as I had all I needed and the weekend would give me enough time.

THEN TODAY HAPPENED😥

I needed to get all the laundry done today because the last thing I needed to do before dropping the tree was move everything we use for water at the house out of the way so it wouldn't be damaged... water reservoir barrel, water pump, hoses and pipes.

So I made my way back to the spring to get set up to do laundry. I was crouched down at the barrel, about to fill it when I heard the single scariest noise I've ever heard in my life. The loud crack of a tree snapping...and it sounded like it was right next to me, coming from the direction of the dead tree!!!

As I went to stand up to get away, my feet slipped on the wet log I was crouched on..and I fell down. I felt the rush of wind blow by next to my head and right shoulder. I don't remember seeing anything, as I believe I may have closed my eyes when I fell. This was the end result...

In the picture above the big tree(log now😁) that's in our water tank, is the one that snapped. But it's the smaller one in the picture that almost got me.

A BIG THANKS TO THE UNIVERSE

First, because I lived. Secondly, because now I don't have to cut the tree down. Cutting big trees scares me, especially in places like this one, where the tree was growing on the hillside. All I could think is I don't want to cut that thing, and it had been weighing on my mind for a while. I'd been putting it off for weeks. Maybe my strong desire to not it this tree caused it to fall all on its own? I believe it played a huge part in it.

  • A view of the end that snapped...see my speaker?...I'm finding my music absolutely lovely of the late!!!

*A wider view. On the right where the pipe is, is where the dam is at.

*The reservoir is severely damaged, but I think I can use it until I can get a new one. The pipes are a little messed up, but I think I can reuse them. My home made turbine will also be okay.

THE DAM SURVIVED

There was absolutely no damage to the dam. The tree did push a large amount of mud down the hill, but that can be easily cleaned up.

*A picture of how far I am on the dam...taken before the tree fell.

I ran to the top of the ridge just to make this post and I need to get back to start cleaning everything up. I've got a lot of work to do now...luckily, I no longer have a tree to cut down this weekend.😁 So I've all the time I need.
