What Does It Take To Keep Fitness When Traveling?

What Does It Take To Stay In Shape While Traveling?

Going on vacation is like giving yourself permission to be a gluttonous heathen, abandoning every habit and routine which kept you in shape and on track. While breaking out of your normal daily habits can be a welcome repose, using some common sense while traveling can go a long way to preventing the guilt and frustration that might be waiting when you step back into your reality. During your next vacation, plan to have a great time, but also continue to honour your relationship with your body.******photo-1527634311077-9943f7df34e1.jpeg

Vacations Don’t Have To Be About Cheating

It’s important to have a committed relationship with your body and vacations don’t need to be an excuse to cheat. Sure there is probably more drinking and carb eating than you normally engage in back at home, but remember, exercise makes us feel good. Who wants to go all out, blow everything you worked so hard for only to have to start over when you get home? Sadly, it doesn’t take much to create this scenario. But maintaining while traveling is not that hard.

Live In The Moment And Be Healthy

It doesn’t matter what your at home routine looks like, whether you are a gym rat or someone who is very dedicated and able to maintain a fitness regime in the comfort of your own home. Staying fit while away requires only a bit of creativity. While at the airport, you can pace around your space doing lunges, or use the chairs to get a good stretch in before a long flight. Your hotel doesn’t have a gym? No problem, if your tablet connects to the Internet, why not do some Tabata videos right in your room.

Get Outside To Move Your Muscles

Nearly every activity we engage in outdoors can be turned into an exercise. It’s mind-blowing to think that so many people are out of shape, when a jog in the woods or a hike for at least thirty minutes is all your body needs to keep fit. Perhaps your treadmill is far from you, but here’s your chance to take advantage of the great outdoors. When you wake up thinking about all the drinks from the night before, find a bike to rent, a trail to hike, a canoe to row, a partner for tennis, or someone to play basketball against. The more fun the better and when you’ve spent your day on the move, those extra drinks and carbs won’t have a chance to do any long-term damage.
