Yeah I know how the title sounds like, but that's the best description I could come up with for this week's first prompt. If you're from the sub saharan Africa and the southern part of Nigeria, then you'd understand why I titled it weather for two.
So over here we're in the peak of the rainy season where the rain has been steady streaming down. No one day goes by without us being blessed with a downpour. This has left us with a very cold and gloomy weather. If it was just for the cold and cloudy weather (I don't like sunny weather), then there would be no issue at all.
But the biggest issue we have in my area is our primary road. The road is not tarred and is littered with potholes. Everytime it rains, the road is literally un-motorable. The rain leaves the potholes filled with huge amounts of water which impedes free movement of both humans and vehicles.
That's to say that everytime it rains it's more advisable to stay indoors if you don't have a car or another means to come pick you up. The state of the road is beyond deplorable and since it's a new and growing estate, the entrance of huge trucks to deliver building materials has only served to worsen the situation.
Just yesterday I ended up staying indoors all through because it rained for the best part of the day. Thank God we had electricity, so I could just charge my phone, watch movies, read and write. Though I had some things I needed to take care of, I had to eventually postpone to today.
It was so cold that at 2 in the afternoon, I was still wearing cardigan, headwarmer and stockings while indoors without fan. The thing about this season is that it's good if you're on holidays and just need to chill at home. I know that workers must've enjoyed it as Monday and Tuesday were holidays over here because of the Eid celebrations.
As much as I love this season and it's gloomy or should I say cloudy weather, it can easily be obstructive to my daily plans as I'm not so good with the cold. It's been a bittersweet experience so far for me with this weather. I only wish it didn't make our road so much bad so we can have ease of movement to go a out our daily endeavors.
