On Saturday morning first thing I set about getting as many of the plant lights and shelves out of the windows as I could. Then I put the window shades back up. We were to be in the 80’sF and I had to block as much sun as I could. I had the house wide open by 5AM to cool it down. Sure wish I had windows done and screens in everywhere…
The dining room window was much better but there was nothing I could do about the roundtop window as it is full and will be until the first week of June.
I got outside by 8AM and got the truck filled and started mulching the grapes.
It took 1½ truckloads and then I got the drip hoses going.
During the day I saw 2 lightning bugs so we will soon have a display after dark. I also saw a brilliant yellow goldfinch. They are back for the dandelion seeds.
I moved the truck to the little trees and I didn’t get it close enough. When I went to move the truck, the starter refused to engage. Time for a new starter, as it been doing this off and on for years. But this time, it was done. So this is as far as I got.
I walked by the rugosa rose and it had a lot of flowers, so I picked them to dehydrate. I got 2½ trays.
But I had to set up the dehydrators first. Good thing I had just gotten all the plant shelves down.
I spent time on the phone and computer ordering a new starter, parts for the weedwacker and for the riding mower. After lunch I rested on the couch. When my brother came home we decided to go pick up the starter that had come in at the store.
The contractor was out mid afternoon and is prepping for putting the metal on the roof.
Another long day…
On Sunday I have 4 hours of mowing to do and will start as early as I can as they are saying we might hit 90F. In the afternoon my brother and I will be making the milk run as Tom is on vacation.
