#Foodfriday Ep. 1 - Tjauwmin Moksi Meti

One of my absolute favorite dishes is....
"Tjauwmin Moksi Meti" which is the Surinamese version of Chowmein and 'mixed meat'. It has chicken, pork and a special Chinese sausage called 'fashong'.
There is always some meat and eggs mixed through the noodles and depending on one's preference you can also just eat the noodles without having the big pieces of meat on top.

This my good people, is the ultimate goodness! It's filling, it's tasty, it's a mixture of flavors! Haha I get happy just talking about it.

So a little context here: Chinese immigrants came to Suriname in 1858.
Suriname has a colonial past and especially after the abolition of slavery, there was and influx of people from China, Java and India to work on the plantations.

Fast forward to today! You can see the reason why Suriname has such a unique mix of cultures and...a unique cuisine.

Now you may be wondering "wait a min, doesn't he live in Curacao?" well yes! But Surinamese cuisine has spread at this point and luckily there are a few Surinamese restaurants on the island 😃.
Now I'm gonna be honest, it's often not exactly the same as what I was used to in Suriname but it's close. I'm glad I ordered some today 😃.

What did you have for lunch/dinner?
