Blog planning for 2022

Perhaps the best way of using #hive is just to (for a period of time) ignore what your wallet value is. Many people advise posting with 100% power up set via the advanced post options. I have opted to do that for the rest of this month, then next and maybe for a bit longer after that. I feel that will open up the opportunities a bit more as we progress into the new year further. Experimentation is key.

I can recall @steevc recommending contests when I started, so I took his advice. I am delighted to say that two of my posts for the Black and White community using the tag #monomad have done rather well. Two mentions by the contest organiser (see links below). In addition to that one of my posts also got a mention on the #photofeed curation.

3 of my posts have done rather well on upvotes. To be fair only 1 post so far has received no votes.

What am I planning to write about this year and how do I manage my writing?

I will write about the tool I use throughout these journal posts and it's called ObsidianMD. I used to use Evernote, Notion and tried out Roam but then a friend suggested Obsidian and that was that. I use it all of the time.

Hive articles are written in Markdown (md) format and the beauty of Obsidian is that it's "data" compromises of markdown files in a folder, and then the nested folders below that in what is called a "vault". It lives on my hard-drive, it is synced to ObsidianSync and also I push it to my Github repository. I can access it from my phone, iPad, Mac, work laptop etc. There are various plugins you can install to introduce power features.

Hive articles, especially the longer form ones, all start here in Obsidian. I say "here" because I am writing these words directly in the app where they'll later be lifted into the Hive editor (be it PeakD or Ecency).

My upcoming posts are a mixture of ideas I had at the outset, [[photo journals]] and some other things that have come about through conversation here on Hive which I think are worth looking into.

Photography - as a semi-pro photographer or whatever I call myself these days. Ok I have done pro work in the past with famous people but it's not my main income these days. I do have material on Alamy and some other agencies. I just prefer to wander with my camera at home and abroad, taking pictures, being as creative as possible. Any big trips this year? Maybe not, still nervous to travel with covid being around still. However we shall explore more of the UK by road. I should get around to some more drone photography too.

History - I have been long fascinated by this subject, our own family having some interesting characters in it's past, from the Pilgrim Fathers to Train Station Masters, a champion cricketer and a fascinating man called Alfred Berry Brewster Bey.

I discovered these people through some notes and a family tree sketched by my late grandmother. I need to do them justice, so will put on my historian hat and do my research. @livinguktaiwan has recently created a train spotting community, which some of these posts will contribute to no doubt. In 2020 I started a project around England's churches, I started off with a post on this topic recently, I am going to return to my archives for more posts and plan to photograph more in the time to come.

Tech - I am a web developer by trade, with a degree in Software Engineering. I may or may not write about programming here, depends on whether that will get much traction on #Hive but there are plenty of topics to write about around perhaps #hive and blockchain itself, from a developers viewpoint.

Electric Vehicles - Two posts written on this topic already which were well received, so expect more of them in 22.

Electronic Music - I love synths, have done for years and for me music software is a thing. Recently I was chatting with @tdctunes about AUM and then never explained it much more. So I should do a piece on that, otherwise it's Bitwig for me these days. I shall do some profiles on musicians and their music too, especially where they are using Blockchain wherever possible.

We are moving house this year to a new area.... which means I will be offline for a bit in Feb/March. However plenty to explore, shall tell you all about that another day!

I've a head full of ideas as you can tell. 2022 is going to be one hell of a bloggin' year I reckon!
