The Adventures of Mira - New Moon Resort (Part 1)

Hi Hivers! Here is a fiction story of mine! This will be exclusively published here at PeakD!

Anyway, this entire thing is a collection of short stories of the adventures of Mira Castillo, a daughter of Poseidon. From running errands for her immortal family, to getting entangled with the supernatural and even her supposedly everyday average life.

This came to be because I was inspired from a dream and the trip my family and I did last month… It was nice… Will be updated twice a week on Mondays and Fridays.

Note: This is purely fiction… The story is mine, therefore the copyrights are mine as well. Plagiarism is a crime.

Travelling is something rare for my family. My grandfather does not like being away from his home for more than a day and he’d rather travel in the middle of the night than to sleep somewhere else. Growing up under his guidance, I tend to not like spending more than a day out of our house either. I’d coop myself in my room watching anime and reading Wattpad than spend the day outside under the sun.

However, there are exceptions. If the trip has something to do with the sea, then I’m definitely going with them.

There is a reason why I go with them when it involves the beach and the sea, despite the chaos that my family stirs whenever we’re out traveling. Yes, I love the sea, but it’s also because my father is a sea god. My father is Poseidon to be exact, which makes me a demigod.

Let’s not be technical about it. My father is Poseidon, he fell for my mom (before she got married) and they spent the night together. And boom! I was created! He was never there for most of my life but I was rather understanding and kind so I was able to easily accept the fact that my dad is a god, and I might actually get into more trouble than most kids my age.

Being a demigod can be a hassle, although it comes with a pretty sweet package of sets of powers. However, I don’t live near the sea, so I rarely see my dad much less visit his palace. Whenever our family’s trip (my mortal one) is located at a beach, I’d definitely go for a chance of seeing my father. Well, that and the fact that as a child of the sea god, I am also pulled towards any body of water, especially the ocean.

Anyway, back to the trip.

It had been months since I’ve visited the ocean. I had been busy with my studies and a few side jobs here and there, so when my grandfather told me that we (and I mean the entire family) are visiting an aunt that lives near the ocean, I immediately got ready at a speed I did not even know I possessed. I was also told we will be spending two nights at my aunt’s house, that's why despite my habit of never spending the night away from home, I packed two days worth of clothes.

The trip was stressful, if I was being honest. I had motion sickness when it came to land and air transportations, and I was swarmed by my annoying and loud cousins who were visiting us for a few days. We (my mom, her husband, their kids and I) reached my aunt’s house first sometime around noon that very same day, but we did not immediately go to the beach, we had to prepare lunch.

And so I helped.

My other uncles’ and aunts’ cars arrived one by one, one of them carrying both grandma and grandpa. The aunt we were visiting, Aunt Dina, was very happy to have us over. The rest of the afternoon was spent in idle chatter among the adults and the younger ones hanging out with each other. The kids were running around the front lawn while my teenage male cousins found their way to a basketball court to play basketball (it was fun watching them, giants vs. sticks).

Despite all the happy reunion, we hit a wall; we all couldn’t stay at Aunt Dina’s house. There were too many of us and her house could not accommodate all of us. It was then decided that grandma and grandpa would stay at Aunt Dina’s guestroom while one of my uncles, Uncle Leo (he’s unmarried) would be sleeping at her house as well. Meanwhile the rest of us would be spending the two nights we were supposed to stay there at a resort in the next town; the New Moon Resort.

My Uncle Adrian already made the reservations, and each family had a room for themselves. Of course, I stayed with my mom and her family, despite my insistence of getting my own room. I realized that it would just be a waste of money since I was planning on spending the night in my father’s home under the sea.

Only mom and her husband knew about my dad (obviously). They also knew of my escapades especially when we have trips near the sea. I was also very thankful to Uncle George (my stepdad) since he was pretty chill about my existence.

That night, I swam to one of my father’s houses under the sea. It was not his palace since that was somewhere in the Atlantic at the moment, but it was some sort of vacation home, a place he could go to whenever things got too stressful in the palace. Sometimes he’d bring his official wife, Aunt Amphitrite, and my half-brother Triton who had been starting to get close to me. It had been five years since I found out I was a demigod and three years since I met Triton. To say that he had stopped sending sharks after me whenever I was by the ocean was definitely an improvement.

“The ocean here is rather unsettled.” dad said in the middle of dinner.

“Father?” I heard Triton question as he continued petting the baby dolphin he found a while ago.

“There is something in the ocean waters. It feels like the power of the sea yet… strange.”

His words were stuck in my mind as the night went on.
